Can trusted plugin auto-updates run Monday–Friday only?

Hi everyone,

I have all my plugins marked as Trusted and automatic plugin updates enabled in MainWP. In General Settings, I’ve set the automatic update time to 09:00.

I’d like to keep this setup, but have automatic updates run Monday through Friday only, with no automatic plugin updates on Saturday or Sunday. Any updates that become available over the weekend should wait until Monday’s scheduled run.

The reason is simple: I manage client websites and want updates to happen when I’m available to investigate and fix any issues.

Is there a built-in setting for this that I’ve overlooked? If not, is there a supported hook, snippet or recommended workaround that keeps MainWP’s existing Trusted auto-update functionality?

Ideally, syncing and checking for available updates would continue over the weekend; only installing the updates would be postponed.

If this isn’t currently possible, has this specific feature already been requested somewhere I can vote for it?

Thanks!
Remco

Hey @Alseenzonnetje

You haven’t overlooked a setting. MainWP currently supports Daily, Weekly, or Monthly automatic updates, with only one day selectable for Weekly.

There isn’t a supported hook or snippet for weekday-only automatic updates.
It would require custom code to postpone weekend installations while preserving Trusted updates and Monday’s scheduled time. Restricting MainWP’s cron to weekdays wouldn’t meet your requirements because the same worker also handles scheduled syncing and update checks.

There’s already a matching feature request on our feedback site: Update frequency > multiple days.

Please feel free to add your vote and describe your use case there.

Got it, thank you!

I will consider waiting for the feature or try to develop this feature myself. Thanks!
