yesterday i received a mail from the advanced uptime monitor that i use the free version for business and they will cancel this within 4 weeks. where do i find these terms?
You are probably using Uptime Robot for that? They changed their terms for the free version. The MainWP extension is still free to use, but depends on one of the external services.
You can find the terms on their website (Terms of Service | UptimeRobot), like:
- Permitted Use of UptimeRobot Free Plan
The UptimeRobot Free Plan is intended solely for personal, non-commercial use. This plan is designed for users who seek basic uptime monitoring services for personal use, personal websites, personal projects, or other non-commercial applications. Use of the Free Plan for any commercial purpose, including but not limited to business, institutional, or revenue-generating activities, is strictly prohibited. - Disclaimer of Commercial Use
Any commercial use of the Free Plan without an appropriate commercial subscription constitutes a violation of these terms. Unauthorized commercial use may result in the suspension or termination of the user’s access to UptimeRobot’s services. - Prohibited Use Cases
Examples of prohibited use under the Free Plan include, but are not limited to:- Monitoring uptime for business websites, applications, or services that generate revenue.
- Using the Free Plan to support or monitor sites or applications associated with a for-profit organization, institution, or any form of commercial entity.
- Embedding uptime data in client reports, presentations, or other business materials.
Frequently Asked Questions about Advanced Uptime Monitor
Is the Advanced Uptime Monitor extension free to use?
Yes, the Advanced Uptime Monitor is completely free for all MainWP users.
Hi @ronnyberlin
Welcome to the MainWP community.
The email was not sent by MainWP, but probably by Uptime Robot whos API you are using in the Advanced Uptime Monitor extension.
As @josklever pointed out, they recently changed the terms of use for their free version.
Consider changing to a different uptime service or to our built-in Uptime Monitoring, which doesn’t require third-party uptime monitoring service: Manage Sites - MainWP Knowledgebase
I think the confusion may be due to conflating the Advanced Uptime Monitor Extension with Uptime Robot.
Advanced Uptime Monitor Extension = MainWP
Uptime Robot = One of the options to use in Advanced Uptime Monitor Extension including NodePing, Site24x7, and Better Uptime
Hope that helps.
Thx a lot… never at the limit of learning
