I am currently getting loads and loads on emails reporting that a site is down, and back up again when there is nothing wrong with the site.
the emails come in pairs at the same time, saying it’s down and then its up.
This has happened for 2 sites - one hosted on Bluehost, the other on a UK hosting platform.
For example, yesterday alone I received 69 emails, yet the site has never been down. The graph within the control panel shows the site as having 100% uprate. I have put uptime robot on the site4 and that also shows a 100% uprate, so why am I receiving these emails?
Since midnight I’ve already received 30 emails, and it’s only 7.38am!
With the first website it seemed to start on 27/01/25, where I seemed to have 1 email a day to say a particular site was down, yet it was up and accessible all the time.
On the 13th of February this increased to 3-6 emails per day.
Then on 12th of March, I started getting emails for another site as well (different host) and it seemed to be between 4 and 6 emails per day per site.
Then on the 25th March I received 72 emails
26th March 116 emails
27th March 69 email
Today at time of writing 30 emails
What is happening? How can I stop receiving the emails? Neither site has been down as far as I can tell.
It’s possible that a security rule that’s present on these two child sites is occasionally blocking the ping from the MainWP Dashboard.
The MainWP Dashboard might interpret that block as downtime, sends you an email about it, and then when the next ping does not get blocked, you get another paired email notifying you about the site coming back online.
Can you please check what Method you’re using in the Uptime Monitoring settings (/wp-admin/admin.php?page=Settings)?
