Hi all; I’ve already read all the relevant support topics on that issue, and checked every suggestion (disabled PHP modules, iThemes Security issues, folder permissions), but i’m facing this issue:
can’t install .zip plugins via mainWP dashboard; I’m using many different hosting providers (and some hosting are directly under my control) and the operation fails on ALL child sites.
There’s something I have overlooked at?

Thanks for the update.
When trying to install plugin by uploading ZIP file, Child Sites actually need to connect to Dashboard site to download the file. So when there is some security plugin or server-side security rule blocking that request, process will fail.
When I checked the report, I noticed the failed self-connect check:
I think that the rule that is blocking connection is blocking requests from child sites.
Can you try to disable all security plugins on the dashboard (just temporarily) and see if that helps?

I’ve tried without any plugin (WP hide and Sucuri was the most suspect) but without success…
Maybe I can try to completely disable the firewall (I have full control on the host, it’s a cloud instance of Ubuntu) to see if that helps…

Hi, I’m posting the solution for future reference:
The real problem was the plugin “WP Hide & Security Enhancer” (that, strangely, works fine until now).
That plugin help the admin to set complex htaccess rewrite rules to hide sensitive data in Wordpress (default paths, plugin names and so on).
The option that cause troubles to mainWP to is “Block default Admin Url”, that have to be set on “no”.
After I’ve setted that option, the plugin update through .zip files starts to work again.
Thanks @bogdan , you’ve turned my attention to the right direction.
Last thing: mainWP error " Not expected HTTP response body:" on self connect is still present, but apparently that doesn’t cause any problem.
