Connection Issue with child sites hosted on SiteGround

All sites hosted at SiteGround are unable to connect.

Hey @cher

Are you trying to add or reconnect these sites?

What error message are you seeing?

It keeps saying that the plugin is not detected.

Even a brand new website that has never had main WP installed on it. It will not connect.

We are having this problem with about 15 websites and they are all hosted on Siteground.

We’ve had previous cases where the SiteGround’s Captcha on the child site was blocking the connection from the Dashboard.

You can try temporarily deactivating the SG Security plugin and see if that helps.

If not, please see if SiteGround’s support team can whitelist the Dashboard’s IP/URL or the User Agent. They were able to do this successfully in the past.
You can find details about the ports and user agent in this KB: https://kb.mainwp.com/docs/what-port-and-user-agent-does-mainwp-use

Also, if you wish, you can open a private support ticket so we can verify that it’s indeed SG Captcha that’s blocking the connection: https://mainwp.com/my-account/get-support/

Unfortunately this is a very time consuming solution as we will need to get in contact with each client and have them open to support ticket individually for each website. This problem is only with siteground.

I would suggest to open a private help desk ticket so we can verify that it’s indeed the SG Captcha that’s blocking the connection: https://mainwp.com/my-account/get-support/

I use SiteGround’s cloud and have not had this specific issue, but it seems like it could be their firewall. I’ve opened a ticket before for one particular site but in the ticket tell them it’s affecting all sites and they have assisted across the board.
