Have an issue where categories will not show in the drop-down box

Have an issue where categories will not show in the drop-down box and started about the time of the last MainWP update 6 weeks ago. Reverted back to import and it is wasting a lot of time.

Had read an forum help post from 2 years ago.. but not the same issue

after the 7 weeks tried again and categories will still not populate and have to go to every website to change from (Uncategorized) to the correct category. Example shown below and is my only option on 3 sites on the host disk.
