I have a weird problem with a plugin on one site. The plug-ins BuddyBoss Platform (not the pro version). It’s installed on 3 identical sites, and it has an available update if I check each site manually. But if I make a sync in the MainWP dashboard then it’s only 2 of the 3 sites that shows an update. How is that possible?
I have tried emptying the cache and re-check manually but nothing happens.
Any tips?

In general, if a Child Site is detecting an available update (on the WordPress Dashboard > Updates page) regardless if the plugin is on the wordpress.org repository or not, MainWP should be able to pick it up.
Is that plugin available on wordpress.org repository?
And can you please post the community system report from your MainWP Dashboard for review? The report is located in your Dashboard under Info → Server, on the top right of the page.

That’s almost certainly the reason. If the plugin or a theme is not available on wordpress.org repository, the detection of available updates can be inconsistent.
Please try following the steps in this help document, and see if that helps with detection.
The document was written for premium plugins, but considering this one is not on wordpress.org repo, in practice it’s essentially as if it is premium.

Unfortunately it didn’t solve the issue. It has even been more weird, because since I last wrote the update info for BuddyBoss Platform shows up sometimes for different sites, and at other sites at another sync (of course only on sites that actually has that specific plugin installed).
Unfortunately, there isn’t much else we can do when the plugin is not being distributed through wordpress.org, or when it doesn’t use the standard WP Update API.
Considering the plugin is free, you may encourage the developer of that plugin to release it on worpdress.org.
