Scheduled Syncs not working; Cannot install Advanced Uptime Monitor Extension per your instructions

My scheduled sync (1x/day) has not worked since Jan. 6. (I ran a manual sync today (Jan.31), but few if any of my updates were installed after doing so). I have checked the knowledgebase and found that you recommend using Uptime Robot to ping the site, which activates the cron job. In doing that, your instructions say to install the Advanced Uptime Monitor Extension. When I try that, the extension appears in the list but is greyed out so I cannot select it.

So I am at a loss: 1) Why are my syncs not running? 2) why can’t I install the extension? 3) How can I fix this as quickly as possible?

Hey @Armando-A

Can you please post the community system report from your MainWP Dashboard for review? The report is located in your Dashboard under Info → Server, on the top right of the page.

Be sure to use the button like the one below; this button hides all your private information:

Pressing the button auto-copies the report to your clipboard then just paste it in a reply here.

Also, please include the system report for the Child Site in question by navigating to MainWP Child > System Information and clicking the Blue button.

First, I checked my dashboard this morning (Feb. 2) and it says all sites synced Feb. 1. But I did not do a manual sync yesterday, so perhaps it’s back to working now. I’m not sure. I suppose I can look tomorrow and see if it says it synced Feb. 2.

Second: Just to be clear, you asked me to include the system report for the child site. It is below, but I want to make sure you know this was affecting all of my sites, not just one child site.

We’ve had an issue with Cron jobs in MainWP v4.6, which was released on Jan 3. So this might have been the reason why your scheduled syncs stopped working around that time.

This was fixed in v4.6.0.1, released on Jan 9. Perhaps you didn’t update to this version immediately, and the affected v4.6 was installed for some days after.

This is correct. Some network activity is necessary to trigger the WP Cron, and pings from an update monitoring service will do just that.

However, you don’t need to install the Advanced Uptime Monitor extension for that. You just have to add the Dashboard’s URL to Uptime Robot directly on their Dashboard.

I’m sorry to bother you again, Bojan. When I went to set up a new monitor in Uptime Monitor, I am prompted to select the “Monitor Type” from a dropdown menu. There is a “PING” option, which is the one I chose. Then it asks for the “IP (or Host”). I entered my dashboard URL (https://moopsie.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=mainwp_tab) but it won’t accept that. Uptime Monitor Support is getting a Page Not Found when they tried accessing the URL. Are you able to provide me with a little more guidance on setting this up? Many thanks.

Ping monitor in Uptime Robot are a special kind of monitor. You can read about it here: Ping Monitoring | UptimeRobot

For our purpose, we can use the standard HTTP / website monitoring and in the URL field, enter the URL of your Dashboard site without the /wp-admin/admin.php?page=mainwp_tab part.

An alert contact is not necessary, but it could let you know if your dashboard is unreachable.

As @josklever pointed out, the alert contact is not necessary for this purpose.

But you may add your email address if you wish to be notified if your Dashboard site goes down.
