Why Won’t CodeGuard Backup My Database When My Site Uses a Private Host?

Hello

I am having trouble setting up backups for my MainWP Dashboard using the CodeGuard extension. :upside_down_face:The setup fails when trying to access the database because it is not publicly accessible only available via cPanel. :innocent:

I already connected successfully via SFTP but the database backup setup stalls at the host access step.

I read that CodeGuard operates independently of WordPress plugins and needs direct access via SSH / MySQL credentials. :innocent:It seems MySQL Direct / SSH tunneling are the recommended options but I find these methods very complex & potentially error-prone when managing multiple sites. Checked https://newcom.mainwp.com/t/how-to-add-your-mainwp-dashboard-to-codeguard/246 for reference. :slightly_smiling_face:

Even though I’m deep in backup issues; I found myself wondering what is Azure Databricks because diving into new tools sometimes helps me rethink architecture; even if they aren’t directly related to backup solutions right now.

Thank you !! :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey @fopodon

We don’t have a CodeGuard extension or integration in MainWP, so unfortunately there’s nothing we can troubleshoot from our side.

We did have a partnership with CodeGuard in the past, which is why we wrote a guide about it, but even then it wasn’t a MainWP extension. It was entirely their own system.

For your current setup, the best step is to contact CodeGuard support directly.
