Wordfence scan initiated on all sites at same time - crashed server

I stupidly requested WordFence to scan all my sites at once, and whilst they are spread across a number of servers, a couple of them crashed due to CPU and RAM issues.

I assume that when Wordfence next runs in one days time, it will likely do the same thing so I have changed the WordFence back schedule to N/A and synced my sites.

Should I re-enable the WordFence scan schedule one site at a time at delayed intervals to prevent this from occurring again? Are there any other options?

There are two possible Wordfence scan schedules.

One is set by our extension, and one is built into the plugin.

The reason why our extension has its own schedule is that when we introduced it, the free version of the Wordfence plugin didn’t have it.

In our extensions, the settings in the Scan tab correspond to the Scan settings of the plugin:

As the wording suggests, Wordfence will choose the best time to perform these scans.

The schedule of our Wordfence extension is controlled from the Options tab:

These scans will be run at the same time, so we’d recommend turning them off (N/A) and letting the Wordfence plugin run scans.
