My dashboard shows some WPEngine sites connected have translations of WP Core, each time I hit update it says updated successfully but then upon refresh, they remain there to be updated again
I see that too on 2 WPE sites and one site on another provider (where other sites on the same account/server don’t have the issue). These updates also keep being available if you update via the child sites directly, so it’s not a MainWP issue. You might need to check that with WPE support.

If these updates keep showing up as available even when you update them in the WP Admin of the child site itself, then as @josklever pointed out, this doesn’t seem to be a MainWP-specific issue.
So I would advise you, as well, to try reaching out to WPEngine support.

We have the same issue and reported to WP Engine. They were able to reproduce it but impossible to fix it! Like with all the WP Drama and have them blocked from WP.org… 
I recommend as well to open a ticket with them. Mine is already at Senior level as they can’t figure it out…
